![]() ![]() I used a needle nose pliers and sharp ended pick to remove the airbag connector keepers, then the pliers to remove the actual connectors. I used a couple of torx screwdrivers to release the spring loaded keepers for the airbag and it popped right off. The steering wheel was a little more tedious, but not hard at all. ![]() It literally took me two minutes start to finish. I used a plastic squeege (the kind used for vinyl lettering) to release the tabs on the shifter boot. Does the "shift from park" button on the knob have to be depressed to remove the knob? Do you have to use a plastic blade or some other type of thin tool to get under the leather boot to detent the tabs far enough to release it? Thanks for you help. I tried to squeeze the sides of the boot directly under the knob as I think this is what releases the boot, but it won't budge, and I didn't want to force it before asking some questions. Is a special puller required? The knob has a socket torx head screw at the rear that has to be loosened once the leather boot is pulled down. Do you just push a thin screw driver blade in there each side and it releases? Also, there are no threaded holes for a puller to attach to for the center splines. I know the two small holes on the steering wheel sides are to release the clips that hold the airbag on. Does anyone have any tips or access to the shop manuals for the proper removal procedure for these items? I have the battery disconnected and the airbag fuse pulled from the rear panel in the trunk. I finally received my suede wheel and knob for change out. ![]()
